Micropumps ,"the beating heart of microfluidics", will play an important role for future applications. In the field of fuel cells, e.g. for direct
methanol fuel cells (DMFC), micropumps are the key component for the handling of the fuel methanol. Looking at lab technology, micropumps will
handle small amounts of fluids, e.g. for pipettes or for microtiter plate dosing. In the area of medical applications, micropumps represent the
microfluidic heart of implantable dosing systems, sphincter systems, the dosing of anesthetics or for infusion systems. Furthermore, for industrial process technology or consumer applications, like the dosing of scents, micropumps have promising perspectives.
