*MicroManufacturing Magazine to sponsor 4M2008*
MM MagWe are pleased to announce that the newly launched Micro Manufacturing magazine is to sponsor the 4M2008 conference. They are to offer a cash prize and will present a trophy to the first named author of the paper judged to be "Best in 4M2008". Metrology Division announces new world record for high aspect ratio measurement.

The next meeting of this Division takes place 26th-27th May 2008, at Tekniker in Spain.

*Micro-Optics Division - website is launched*
The 4M Micro Optics Division announces that its website is online. You can visit it at www.opticsmanufacturing.net to check the technology behind the manufacturing of high precision optical components and to get information about the R&D expertise available within 4M Micro-Optics Division, as well as the latest events in the field.

*4M Summer School*
Following the success of last year's first 4M Summer School, we are pleased to announce that the Technical University of Denmark (Partner 19) have agreed to host this again and the dates this year will be Monday 23rd June to Friday 4th July 2008. More details are on the Summer School web page.

*The 4M Association*
The EC funding for the 4M NoE finishes at the end of September 2008. To continue and sustain the relationships created during the lifetime of the Network we are going to form a 4M Association, which will be an Association open for membership to all, by subscription. *4M Cross-Divisional Projects*
To those of you active in the current round of projects, this is a polite reminder that many of them finished at the end of March, so final reports should be submitted to Jeanette Whyte as soon as possible.

*RAS Funding*
Due to the reduction in this budget following the Year 3 review meeting, there is now only enough funding left for approximately 20 days. Therefore if you have a project in mind, act quickly as it will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

OTHER NEWS and EVENTS

*MINAM Technology Transfer Workshop*
This one day workshop of the European Platform for Micro and Nanomanufacturing will address technology transfer activities within European Commission Framework Programme 6 NMP and IST Projects in their final stages of implementation. The meeting, which takes place in Zurich, Switzerland on 21st May 2008, will showcase good practice in technology transfer and the commercialisation of scientific research in the field of micro and nano manufacturing. It will also provide a forum for related projects to communicate technology developments brought about during their project to potential industrial users. 4M will use this event to publicise its technology transfer activities and the 4M Association. *1st Aachen Precision Days*
This conference is aimed at those interested in precision and micro technology. For more information visit the event page.

*PowerMEMS 2008*
The objective of PowerMEMS workshop series is to catalyze innovation in micro and nano technology for power generation and energy conversion applications. The workshop will provide researchers with a forum for discussing latest research results and promoting progress towards commercialization. This year, the PowerMEMS workshop will be held partly in conjunction with with The Second Symposium on Micro Environmental Machine Systems (μEMS). *PATENT-DfMM NoE*
The PATENT-DfMM NoE is organising 2 tutorials addressing "Embedded Test Solutions" and "Package Engineering" for Micro Nano Technology (MNT)-based systems to be held in conjunction with the DTIP symposium from 9th-11th April 2008. For more information visit the website.
