RTM is a private research centre that has had long term collaborations with the University of Naples Federico II in fields of material processing and metrology, welding, material characterisation, etc. RTM recently submitted a technological enquiry regarding the ptimization of a laser microdrilling process through a DOE plan and material characterisation procedures.

Outcome:

Assistance was given by the University of Naples Federico II to RTM about the general aspects concerning metal processing and related metrological problems in the field of laser microdrilling. A DOE scheme and a proposal of destructive (metallography) and nondtructive(SEM microscopy) metrological characterisation was submitted to the client with the aim to characterise and optimise the laser microdrilling process. The collaboration could lead to a future paid RAS initiative based on a dedicated consultancy contract and project development.
